We were studying the Civil War this month. The boys put together a presentation for their grandparents of things they learned. Caleb delivered a speech on the life of General Robert E. Lee and Nate did his speech on General Ulysses S. Grant as well as reciting most of the Gettysburg Address from memory. Caleb made the backdrop and a bugle. He also played "Dixie" and "Yankee Doodle" on the piano. Nate made taffy, johnny cakes and a drum. They both worked together on a set up of army men depicting the civil war. They did a great job! Emma also gave a speech on the moral implications of slavery on the South and the Emancipation Proclamation. It was a lot of fun!
